PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY:
Copiah-Lincoln Community College works closely with the Mississippi Virtual Community College to assure that students’ privacy is protected when participating in eLearning courses. As the host institution, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, through the Mississippi Virtual Community College, utilizes https and secure FTP processes to protect student information during the transfer and storage of registration, course and grade information. A unique, college-generated student ID serves as the main identifier within the system and Learning Management System, and any password information is encrypted using MD-5 hashing technology. Students can only access the learning management system using a secured internet portal. All information within each Learning Management System is stored off-site in locations with firewall, network, and physical security. Records of students grades, transcripts, and other sensitive data is maintained electronically in the college’s management information system and in paper form in the Office of Admissions and Records on the Wesson Campus. Electronic records are maintained in secure servers with strict access protocol managed by the District Office of Information Systems. Paper records are maintained in secure, fireproof storage under the Director of Admissions and Records. All information stored in the College’s management information system and at the Director of Admissions and Records office is subject to all applicable provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), commonly referred to as the Buckley Amendment. For more information regarding your rights under FERPA, refer to the college catalog.
CHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH VERIFICATION OF STUDENT IDENTIFY:
Copiah-Lincoln Community College does not have any charges for eLearning students who take proctored exams at any proctoring center located on a Mississippi Community or Junior College campus. Students who use approved off-site proctoring centers located at other colleges and in other states or countries may be assessed a testing fee for site utilization. It is the responsibility of the student to pay the testing center for any charges associated with proctored exams and verification of student identity.
