The Southern Association for Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires accredited institutions to conduct a five-year research-based project that is based on an institutional need and enhances overall institutional quality and effectiveness by improving student learning outcomes and/ or student success.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s (CLCC) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), entitled “Press P.A.W.S,” is designed to bolster student success, CLCC’s focus is to cultivate a more robust and inclusive culture of mental health awareness, support, and services by helping students achieve their overall wellbeing and nurturing their social, physical, and emotional growth while in college and beyond.

CLCC’s QEP, PRESS P.A.W.S.—Positively Advocating for WolfPack Success, goal is to improve student success by providing students with enhanced mental health awareness, support, and services. Through the following targeted objectives, PRESS P.A.W.S. endeavors to foster a supportive environment conducive to students’ academic successes and overall well-being.

Objective 1: Students will demonstrate an enhanced awareness of mental health, including the ability to recognize common mental health challenges, apply strategies for self-care and stress management, and effectively identify available mental health resources at CLCC. (Student Learning).

Objective 2: Students will report reduced rates of stress, depression, and anxiety. (Student Learning/Student Self-Efficacy)

Objective 3: Improve student success by improving their personal wellness in multiple dimensions of health such as their social, physical, and emotional health. (Student Success)

Recognizing the pivotal role of mental health in overall well-being and academic success, CLCC is dedicated to bolstering mental health educational programming and services as an integral component of its mission and vision. By offering comprehensive and integrated mental health awareness and support services to CLCC curriculum students, we aim not only to facilitate their academic persistence and attainment but also to foster success across various facets of their lives.
