Walker receives state-wide art award

Copiah-Lincoln Community College sophomore Jarvis Walker of Crystal Springs won Honorable Mention for his drawing, Florals, at the 2026 Mississippi Community College Art Instructors Association (MCCAIA) Annual Art Competition and Exhibition hosted recently at East Mississippi Community College.

The state-wide competition, open to students from all 15 Mississippi community colleges, showcases the best works selected by instructors from a variety of art disciplines.

An Interior Design major, Walker has been very active in campus life during his time at Co-Lin. He served as president of Sigma Kappa Delta, the English honor society, and was a section leader for the Blue Wave Show Band. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was selected to Who’s Who at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He also earned a place on the Vice President’s List for his academic excellence. After Co-Lin, he plans to continue his education at Mississippi State University.
