The Dr. Douglas B. Schexnayder scholarship was recently endowed with the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation by retired instructor Dr. Douglas Schexnayder of. Palatka, Florida. The scholarship was established to benefit a Wesson campus sophomore majoring in science or science education with a 3.0 GPA.
Dr. Schexnayder taught biology, zoology, physical science and botany for many years at Co-Lin. He sponsored the Alpha Omega Science Club, taught the first online biology course, created the college website, and was honored twice in the national Who’s Who for two-year colleges. His passion for bass fishing generated stories published in more than 250 area news publications.
“Retired faculty members are some of our most generous supporters,” said Angela Furr, executive director of the Co-Lin Foundation. “Dr. Schexnayder devoted many years to educating students at Co-Lin, and with this new scholarship in his name, he will continue to impact Co-Lin students for years to come.”
Contributions to the Dr. Douglas B. Schexnayder Scholarship, or any other scholarship, can be mailed to the Co-Lin Foundation at P.O. Box 649, Wesson, MS 39191, or made online at https://www.colin.edu/alumni-foundation/give-now/.
