The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Athletic Alumni Association will induct eight members into the Sports Hall of Fame during Homecoming festivities on Thursday, Oct. 8.
This year’s class includes Frank Chatman, Curtis Hobbs, Dusty Hutto, Leonard Johnson, Allen Kent, Victoria McDonald, Floyd Bradley Ratcliff, and Pat Williams. They will be inducted during the Alumni Association Awards Reception at 3:15 p.m. in the Thames Center on the Wesson Campus.
Frank Chatman
Chatman made his mark on the Co-Lin men’s basketball program from 1986–1988, helping lead the Wolves to an impressive 33–2 record and a seventh-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. Averaging 10 points per game, Chatman earned Honorable Mention All-State and Third Team All-Region honors. He ranked second on the team in assists and third in steals while making 44 three-pointers at a 46 percent clip and shooting 83 percent from the free-throw line. One of the highlights of his Co-Lin career came when he hit a game-winning buzzer-beater against Rochester (N.Y.) Community College.
After two seasons at Co-Lin, Chatman continued his collegiate career at Mississippi College, where he earned two varsity letters and was twice named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week. His career included a 33-point performance in which he connected on eight three-pointers.
Chatman later continued his basketball career overseas with Sanjoanense in Portugal’s Division II professional league. He averaged 44 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals per game and was named Player of the Week four times.
Chatman and his wife, Vanessa, have been married for 27 years and have four children: Justin, Jada, Brandon and Markeis Reed.
For more than two decades, Chatman has continued to use basketball and ministry to mentor and encourage young people in the Missouri City and Sugar Land, Texas, areas. He is the founder and director of H-Town Next Level Basketball Academy and has twice been named Youth Basketball League Coach of the Year in the Houston and Fort Bend areas. Chatman holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Health Science from American Public University and is an ordained minister with more than 25 years of service. He is also the founding pastor of Open Doors Life Church in Rosharon, Texas.
Curtis Hobbs
Hobbs was a standout member of the Co-Lin football program, earning All-State and All-Region 23 honors during his time with the Wolves. He was also selected to play in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Game, where he was named Most Valuable Player, and earned Player of the Year honors.
After Co-Lin, Hobbs continued his football career at Nicholls State University from 1982–1983. During his time with the Colonels, he led the team in receptions and finished his career as the program’s fourth all-time leader in receptions. His performance also ranked him 11th in NCAA Division I-AA in receptions.
Hobbs continued his football career at the professional level when he was selected in the eighth round of the draft by the Jacksonville Bulls.
Hobbs is married to Gloria Hobbs. They have two children, Curtis and Cornelius, and three grandchildren, Reagon, Cannon and Carter. He currently resides in Magee, Mississippi.
Active in his church and community, Hobbs serves as a deacon at St. Peter M.B. Church.
Dusty Hutto
Hutto distinguished himself as a member of the Co-Lin golf program, earning Second Team All-American and Second Team All-State honors during his time with the Wolves. He was a member of a State Championship team and recorded the lowest scoring average in the conference in 1999. Hutto also earned individual medalist honors three times during his Co-Lin career.
After Co-Lin, Hutto continued his collegiate golf career at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Hutto has remained involved in the game as the golf coach at Franklin County High School, where he has the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of golfers.
Hutto currently resides in Roxie, Mississippi, and is the father of five children: Ana, Lilly, Tim, Jack and Eddy.
Leonard Johnson
Johnson was a standout quarterback for the Co-Lin football program from 1986–1987. Johnson helped lead the Wolves as quarterback of the undefeated 1986 championship team and earned All-Conference and All-American honors during his Co-Lin career.
After Co-Lin, Johnson continued his collegiate football career at Alabama A&M University. Following his college career, he remained at quarterback and continued playing in the semi-professional ranks with the St. Petersburg Sharks of the Southern States Football League.
Johnson became a key part of the Sharks during the team’s successful run in the early 2000s. As the team’s starting quarterback and a veteran leader, he helped guide St. Petersburg to a championship following the 2001 season, earning his first SSFL championship ring.
A Clearwater, Florida, native and former Clearwater High School quarterback, Johnson has remained connected to the game through coaching and working with young athletes in the Clearwater and Dunedin areas.
Allen Kent
Kent’s connection to Co-Lin began as a student-athlete, playing baseball for the Wolves and graduating in 1984. He later returned to Co-Lin and spent 16 seasons leading the Lady Wolves softball program from 2002–2018.
During his tenure, Kent guided Co-Lin to two Region 23 Championships and an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament championship game, where the Lady Wolves finished as national runner-up. His success earned him MACCC Coach of the Year honors three times and Region 23 Coach of the Year honors twice.
Kent continued his service to Co-Lin athletics as golf coach from 2020–2026. During that time, he coached three individual appearances in the NJCAA National Tournament, while his team also excelled in the classroom, earning a No. 2 national academic ranking.
A graduate of Mississippi State University, Kent continues his involvement in athletics as a high school softball umpire. He resides in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and attends First Baptist Church Brookhaven.
Kent is married to Wanda Kent. They have one son, Colby, who is married to Erica, and two grandchildren, Griffin and Fallon.
Victoria McDonald
McDonald was a standout member of the Co-Lin women’s basketball program. During the 1984–1985 season, she averaged 11.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, helping lead the Lady Wolves to an impressive 30–2 record and a runner-up finish in the MACJC State Tournament.
McDonald followed that performance with an outstanding season, averaging 16.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as the Lady Wolves compiled a 28–4 record. Her performance earned her MACJC First Team All-State honors.
After Co-Lin, McDonald continued her collegiate basketball career at Jackson State University, where she earned Newcomer of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and First Team SWAC All-Conference honors. In 2015, she was inducted as a Legend into the Jackson State University Alumni Players Association Hall of Honor in recognition of her athletic achievements, sportsmanship, integrity and character.
McDonald currently serves with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department Transportation Division. She is the proud mother of three children, Jessica, Victor and Mikhail.
Floyd Bradley Ratcliff
Ratcliff represented Co-Lin as a member of the Wolf Pack tennis program and was part of the 1981 MACJC Championship team. A member of the Class of 1981, his time as a student-athlete at Co-Lin marked the beginning of a lifelong connection to his community and a career defined by service to others. After leaving Co-Lin, Ratcliff continued his education at Mississippi State University.
Ratcliff went on to dedicate nearly three decades to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, serving the agency for 28 years. He also spent 20 years serving his local community through the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
A longtime resident of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Ratcliff is married to Janet Bullock Ratcliff. They have two children, Sam Ratcliff and Susanna Ratcliff Hedgepeth, and four grandchildren: Ruby Ratcliff, Lucy Ratcliff, Winnie Hedgepeth and Daisy Hedgepeth.
From his days representing Co-Lin on the tennis court to his many years of public service, Ratcliff has remained rooted in the community he calls home.
Pat Williams
Williams was a standout member of the Co-Lin baseball program and a member of the Class of 2005. During his time with the Wolves, Williams helped Co-Lin capture the South Division and Region 23 championships and earn a trip to the 2005 NJCAA World Series. His performance on the national stage earned him a spot on the 2005 NJCAA World Series All-Tournament Team. Williams also earned All-Region and All-District honors and was recognized as an Academic All-American.
After Co-Lin, Williams continued his collegiate baseball career at Delta State University.
Williams currently works for Shell Pipeline and resides in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, with his wife, Lyndse. They have two children, Adylyn and Miles.
Williams continues to stay connected to the game of baseball by working with young athletes through baseball camps and one-on-one player development, sharing his experience and knowledge of the game with the next generation of players.
