Published: May 28, 2025

Copiah-Lincoln Community College sophomore Sophie Sisson of Moss Point has been named a prestigious Lyceum Scholar Award recipient by the University of Mississippi. The Lyceum Scholarship will cover the cost of full-time tuition at Ole Miss for two years, totaling nearly $20,000. Only community college transfer students who have an exemplary record of leadership and service and at least a 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The application process for Lyceum is extremely competitive, with only a handful of students selected from across the state.

“Sophie is incredibly deserving of this scholarship,” said Co-Lin Head Tennis Coach Tripp Case. “She holds herself to the highest standards and consistently demonstrates the determination and work ethic needed to excel. I’m confident she will continue to succeed, both in her academic pursuits and beyond.”

While at Co-Lin, Sisson was inducted into the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and named to Who’s Who at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She was a member of the Lady Wolves Tennis team where she served as Women’s Team Captain for 2024-2025 season. Sisson received the inaugural Co-Lin Tennis GRIT Award and was on the MACCC All-Academic Team of the Year. She was a Co-Lin Foundation Scholarship recipient and earned a place on the President’s List.

At Ole Miss, Sisson plans to use the Lyceum Scholarship to earn her degree in elementary education and then continue on to pursue a master’s degree.

She is a graduate of Resurrection Catholic High School and is the daughter of Scott and Kristal Sisson.
