Co-Lin Alumni Association honors outstanding faculty, staff members
The Co-Lin Alumni Association recently honored five outstanding faculty and staff members during the annual Fall convocation on the Wesson Campus. The group will also be recognized during the alumni luncheon at Homecoming on Oct. 19.
Those honored from the Wesson Campus were Jimmie Cain of Brookhaven, Julie Gaudin of McComb, and Brad Hamilton of Wesson. Jerika Browning of Natchez was the Natchez Campus honoree, and Hope Berry of Magee was recognized for the Simpson County Center.
Berry was selected as Outstanding Faculty/Staff Member for the Simpson County Center. She has been employed at Co-Lin since 2016, and has a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She currently works in the career-technical department at the Simpson County Center as a Practical Nursing instructor. She previously worked as the point of care coordinator at Magee General Hospital, where she was recognized as Employee of the Year. She is an active member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Berry and her husband Brent have two children, Parker and Maylin.
Browning was honored as Outstanding Faculty/Staff Member for the Natchez Campus. She has worked at Co-Lin since 2015 and serves as the secretary to the vice president on the Natchez Campus. She has attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana State University, and Columbia Southern University. She is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in environmental management. Browning previously worked in information technology services, and restaurant and tourism management. She is a member of the Presbyterian Church in Natchez and is active in the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society. She was awarded the Howell C. Garner High Performance Award in 2016. Browning and her husband Les are expecting their first child, Quinn, due in November.
Cain was selected as Outstanding Staff Member of the Year for the Wesson Campus. She has been employed at Co-Lin since 2010, and serves as the public relations assistant. She graduated from Brookhaven High School and attended the University of Tennessee Newspaper Technology Institute. Prior to Co-Lin, Cain worked for The Daily Leader for 23 years. She has received many design awards from the Mississippi Press Association and College Public Relations Association of Mississippi. She has also been awarded the Howell C. Garner High Performance Award and is an active member of New Salem Church of Christ. Cain and her husband Michael have two children, Justin and Lydia, and four grandchildren.
Gaudin was honored as Outstanding Career-Technical Instructor for the Wesson Campus. She has been employed at Co-Lin since 1998, and has an associate’s degree from both Southwest Mississippi Community College and Co-Lin. She is currently a Clinical Coordinator of Medical Radiologic Technology at Co-Lin. She has been awarded the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award and recognized by Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Gaudin also works at KDMC in the emergency radiology and computed tomography department and at Claiborne County Medical Hospital. She is an active member of New Heights Baptist Church, North Pike Band Boosters, and Mississippi Society of Radiologic Technologists. Gaudin has four children, Codi Phillips, Jolee Dunn, Bryce Gaudin, and Brody Gaudin, and four grandchildren.
Hamilton was selected as Outstanding Academic Instructor for the Wesson Campus. He has been employed at Co-Lin since 2007, and was a 1999 graduate of Co-Lin. Hamilton earned a bachelor’s degree in math education from Mississippi College in 2001 and a master’s in mathematics from Mississippi College in 2005. He is an instructor in the mathematics and computer science division. He previously taught at Wesson Attendance Center from 2001-2007 and was awarded the 2018 Wesson Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Hamilton and his wife Kimberly have three children, Allison, Laney, and Liam.
