Natchez Campus Vice President receives Patriot Award

Co-Lin Natchez Campus Vice President Teresa Busby recently received the Patriot Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. This honor is given for supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force. Cortez Adams, Private First Class of the 168th Engineering Battalion, Mississippi Army National Guard and student at Co-Lin’s Natchez Campus nominated Busby for the award.

 “I, and many before me, know full well how supportive Vice President Busby is of the Guard and that we will always be accommodated while meeting the Guard mission,” said Adams. “While in the Guard and attending school here I can continue my military career, fulfill my military commitments with peace of mind that someone like Mrs. Busby has my back.”

“I am honored and humbled,” said Busby. “Our Guard and Reserve members play a crucial role in the well-being and safety of our country and citizens. It is my honor to serve them. I especially want to thank Private First Class Adams for his nomination. We are fortunate to have people like him in our community and on our campus. I commend him for pursuing his education while serving our great country. I am eternally grateful.”   

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense program established to promote understanding and cooperation between Reserve Component Service members and civilian employers to enhance support for military service in the Guard and Reserve.
