Music documentary presented to the college

documentarypresentationDr. Jim Brewer, founder of the Mississippi Musician’s Hall of Fame (far left), recently presented Co-Lin with the first copy of the new documentary “Mississippi: the Birthplace of America’s Music.” The documentary, which is a history of Mississippi music, will be shown in the new Mississippi Music Experience in Jackson and will also be made available to all in-state schools. The documentary showcases blues, country and rock n’ roll having been born in Mississippi from the Civil War to present. This and one other film produced by the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame are currently being used in schools across the state. The film can be used to teach Mississippi studies, civil rights, music appreciation, as well as other subjects. Accepting on behalf of Co-Lin are Denise Riley, director of choral activities (second from left); Juanita Profitt, assistant band director/music instructor (second from right) and R. Shaw Furlow, director of bands/music instructor.
