Blue Wave Show Band receives new tuba

The Blue Wave Show Band is getting a new concert tuba thanks to a gift to the Co-Lin Foundation designated to the band program. Shaw Furlow, director of bands, said the band program greatly needed new tubas when the donation arrived. "This will provide a great opportunity for music majors," said Juanita Proffitt, assistant band director. "The tuba is unique from the band's current tubas in that it has five valves instead of four." Zack Booth of Magee, a tuba music major, tries out the new tuba overseen by Furlow and Proffitt.
