What is MELO?
It is an electronic collection of resource information selected by librarians and taken from the internet.  It contains web pages, databases, Mississippi community college library catalogs, and links to Mississippi CC library web pages.  It is an initiative of the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC).

What are my library's hours?
You can find each community college library hours at http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/hours.php.

 How do I find a book in my community college library on MELO?
MELO links to all the community college online catalogs at http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/catalogs.php.  These catalogs provide an index to a library's books, journals, and videos.

Would I find other information databases on my college library's web page?
Yes, many of the Mississippi community college libraries subscribe to other databases that are not found on MELO.  It is always a good idea to follow the link to your own college's library found on the 'Member Libraries' link on MELO's homepage. 

How do I find a magazine or journal article on MELO?
Magazine and journal articles are found in the databases Ebscohost and SIRS.  First Search is primarily a group of indexes to articles, but some full-text are found there also.  These are found on the 'Databases/Indexes' page at http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/databases.php.

How do I contact a librarian from my college library?

Can I find a list of online courses offered by the MSVCC on MELO?
Yes, you may either follow the MSVCC  link on MELO's homepage or go directly to the list at  http://sbcjcweb.sbcjc.cc.ms.us/MsvccVisitor/.

What databases are found on MELO?
MELO includes all databases on one page found at http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/databases.php.  The MAGNOLIA databases as well as those found just on MELO are here.

What is MAGNOLIA?
MAGNOLIA is a collection of premier databases that are funded by the state legislature and are available free of charge to all Mississippi citizens.  They are Ebscohost, First Search, GaleNet, SIRS, and Wilson's Biographies.  These databases do require a password. 

How can I access a database from off-campus?

Where can I find a dictionary, encyclopedia, or directory on MELO?
MELO's  reference page (http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/reference_list.php) offers quick useful information on a broad range of subjects.  It includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, almanacs, guides, handbooks, and manuals.

How do I cite a source?  ....how do I cite one of MELO's databases?
It is always best to first check with your instructor for any specific instructions as to style or format they want.   Manuals for different bibliographic/works cited information are found on MELO's 'Reference/Style Manuals' page (http://www.colin.edu/vcclib/test/style_manuals.php).   It includes both MLA and APA format information.
