Watts signs with Lady Wolves

WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College head softball coach Allen Kent announced the signing of Magee High School standout Brittany Watts.

“Brittany is one of the first signees from Simpson County since the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) made the transition to fastpitch seven years ago,” said Kent. “It is always a plus to have a catcher with experience, but Brittany is also versatile enough to play other positions as well.”

Watts, the team captain, hit .404 with a .619 on base percentage and lead the team with 29 RBIs her senior season.

Watts joins 2008 signees Becca Boone of Copiah Academy, Candace Avants, Chelsey Miller and Devon Welch, all of Bogue Chitto High School; Missy Paulina of Grace King High School (LA); Rebecca Rousseau of Taft High School (TX) and Ashley Jones of Lawrence County High School.

The Lady Wolves set a school record for wins in 2006 with a 39-9 mark. They are the reigning Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Champions and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Champions. They advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament in Normal, IL, where they finished third. Co-Lin has ranked in the top 10 in the NJCAA polls each of the last four years.
