Johnny Williams

Johnny
Williams begins his 15th year as assistant coach for the Lady
Wolves softball team. He served as head coach in 2002.
Williams is division
chair of the computer
science/mathematics division and has been a member of the faculty at Co-Lin
since 1987.
He received his
bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi
and his master’s degree in mathematics from Southeastern Louisiana
University in 1979 with a major in mathematics and a minor in education. At
Southeastern, he was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor
Society and served as president in 1979. He has done additional study at
Mississippi State University, Alcorn State University, Jackson State
University, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Prior to
coming to Co-Lin he was a teacher and coach at Crescent City Baptist High
School in Metairie, Louisiana.
He previously
taught and coached at Bogue Chitto High School where he was affiliated with
the Mississippi Education Association, Mississippi Association for Adult
Education, and the Lincoln County Education Association.
At Co-Lin, he
sponsors the Micro-Computer Club where his computer programming teams won
first place in 1992 in the MECA Community College Programming Contest, and
second place in 1997. He was selected to represent Co-Lin at the NISOD
Conference in 1994, received Co-Lin’s High Performance Award in 2000,
selected as the Wesson Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year in 2000, and
Co-Lin’s Outstanding Academic Instructor in 2001.
He is a member
of Wesson Baptist Church, and the Wesson High School Booster Club. He and
his wife, the former Cindy Hodges, have two sons, Ryan, 22, and Wade, 20. |
