Co-Lin in 1998, where he was a member of the baseball

Burt received his bachelor’s degree in marine biology,
with a minor in chemistry, from the University of
Southern Mississippi in 2000. Furthermore, he acquired

While at Bogue Chitto High School, he was head softball
coach. During these two years, he accumulated two
District Championship titles, one undefeated season
within Lincoln county rival teams, and two state playoff
appearances (2002-2004).
When his emergency certification to teach and coach
expired in 2004, Burt attended graduate school at the
University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy. In 2006,
he received his master of science degree in marine
pharmacognosy, or, drug discovery from marine plants and
animals.
Burt began instructing science at Co-Lin in the fall of
2006 at the Simpson County Center, and transferred to
the Wesson campus during the summer of 2007. In
addition to instructing science and assisting with
softball, Burt is also an advisor for the Eta Omega
chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. He is a member of Calvary
Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, and is married to the
former Amy L. Smith of Bogue Chitto. They are the
parents of two-and-a-half year old Brandon Jase, who
takes up the remainder of his time. |
