Phoenix 8, Co-Lin 5

            Trailing 5-4, the Lady Bears scored 4 runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-5 lead. Tracy Lubken led off the inning with a pinch hit double to right center field. Kelsey Volz singled advancing Lubken to third. Jamie Hennis singled to load the bases. Rebecca Rousseau came in to pitch for the Lady Wolves and walked Barry to tie the game at 5-all. With the bases still loaded, Lacy Goodman reached on a fielder’s choice scoring Volz. After Goodman stole second, shortstop Tina Hiley hit a 2-RBI double to right field.

            The Lady Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Third baseman Meleah Brown walked and advanced to second on an Ashley Sykes single. Starting pitcher Becca Bailey singled to left field scoring Brown.

            Co-Lin added another run in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. With 1 out, right fielder Becca Boone reached on an error. Left fielder Candace Avants was hit by a pitch. Center fielder Emily Langley reached on a fielder’s choice advancing Boone to third. Boone scored on a wild pitch.

            Phoenix tied the game in the third inning on a 2-run home run by catcher Lacy Goodman.

            They added 2 more runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead. Second baseman Ashlie Rosenberg walked. First baseman Dana Goguen singled advancing pinch runner Carly Bedford to second. Volz reached first on an error and advanced to second on another Co-Lin error. Goguen advanced to third and Bedford scored. Hennis reached on an error and Goguen scored.

The Lady Wolves took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Crochet hit a 3-run home run to left field.

Crochet absorbed the loss for the Lady Wolves allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits. She struck out 1 and walked 3. Starting pitcher Becca Bailey allowed 2 runs on four hits, struck out 4 and walked 1 in three innings. Rousseau relieved Crochet in the middle of the sixth inning. She struck out 4 and allowed 2 hits.

Ashley Sykes led the Lady Wolves at the plate with 3 singles. Crochet homered. Langley, and Bailey added a single apiece.

For Phoenix, Walle, Volz and Lubken doubled and singled. Hennis singled twice. Goodman homered. Hiley doubled. Goguen added a single.

Walle picked up the win for the Lady Bears. She allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6 in 7 innings.
