Jones signs with Lady Wolves

Copiah-Lincoln Community College head softball coach Allen Kent announced the signing of Lawrence County pitcher Ashley Jones.

“We are pleased to add Ashley to our roster for next year,” said Kent. “She comes from a winning program at Lawrence County. Not only will Ashley bolster our pitching staff, but she handles the bat really well, has good speed and can play the outfield too.”

As a junior, Jones led the Lady Cougars to a 20-9 record with a 1.57 ERA, while hitting .301. The Lady Cougars are the reigning District 6-4A Champions.

Jones joins 2008 signees Becca Boone of Copiah Academy, Candace Avants, Chelsey Miller and Devon Welch, all of Bogue Chitto High School; and Missy Paulina of Grace King High School (LA).

The Lady Wolves set a school record for wins in 2006 with a 39-9 mark. They are the reigning Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Champions and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Champions. They advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament in Normal, IL, where they finished third. Co-Lin has ranked in the top 10 in the NJCAA polls each of the last four years.
