Diamond Wolves split season opener
WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolfpack baseball team kicked
off the 2008 season with a 12-1 win over the Coahoma Community College
Tigers. In the finale, Delgado Community College handed the Wolves as 12-1
loss.

Freshman pitcher Joseph Evans of Lawrence County recorded his first win of
the season allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 4 strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate for the Wolves with a double and single each were shortstop
Steven Gauthe’ and Timmy Foster. Josh Coone, James Antoon and TaeByus Smith
each had a double. Jordan Toney and Montez Chatman had 2 singles each.
Absorbing the loss was Lawrence McCloud with 12 runs on 12 hits, 5 walks and
4 strikeouts.
At the plate for the Tigers, Lou Ipecac, Brad Wilson, Terrell Jones and
Layne Boykin singled.

In the second game, sophomore Brandt Hinton took the loss for the Wolves.
Also seeing action were Brock Campbell in the second inning, Marty Ballard
in the third inning, Ian Ferrell in the sixth inning and Kolby Godfrey in
the seventh.
Co-Lin’s lone hit came from Toney who scored Jared Rogers.
Posting the win for the Dolphins was Kelly Williams who allowed 1 hit,
walked 2 and struck out 7.

Second baseman
Jordan Toney (8) of Mendenhall slides into second safely.
Michael Liberton smashed a home run and a double. Justin Aldridge doubled
and singled. Kyle Ojasion had a triple and a single.
