Josh Garrett begins his first year as assistant baseball coach. Garrett, a former Co-Lin pitcher, will primarily work with the Wolfpack pitching staff.

Garrett is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence County High School. He was named The Daily Leader’s Most Valuable Player on the 1999 All-Area Baseball Team.

He is a member of the 2000 Co-Lin team that finished fourth in the NJCAA Division II World Series in Millington, Tenn. While at Co-Lin, Garrett was selected NJCAA All-Region XXIII and MACJC All-State. His nine wins and 15 starts in 2000, ranks second on Co-Lin’s all-time list.

After Co-Lin, Garrett signed with the University of Southern Mississippi. He transferred to Belhaven College where he played for former USM coach Hill Denson. He was voted team captain two consecutive years and led the team to their first GMAC Conference Title. Garrett holds Belhaven’s single season strikeout record (108).

Garrett received his B.S. degree in sports administration from Belhaven and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports management at the University of Southern Mississippi. He will also teach physical education classes at Co-Lin. In three years as an assistant coach at Laurel’s Watkins High School, Garrett helped Coach Luke Leggett’s team reach the Class 4A state playoffs.

Garrett and his wife, the former Kail Baldwin of Brookhaven, are the parents of a one-year-old son, Wyatt.
