General Information

The Associate Degree Nursing (A.D.N.) Program at Copiah-Lincoln Community College began in the Fall of 1994. Each Spring applicants are screened for admission and a new freshman class ranging from 50 – 60 students starts each Fall.  The program is a two year (four semester) program and awards the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. The curriculum is designed with reference to the recommended educational competencies for graduates of associate degree nursing programs set forth by the National League of Nursing and the National Organization of Associate Degree Nursing.  The Associate Degree Nursing program is accredited by the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning of Mississippi, and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (61 Broadway-33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006, 1-800-669-1656, ext.153).  Graduates from the nursing program are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX®-RN).

 
 

Mission/Purpose Statement

The philosophy, purpose, and objectives of the nursing program reflect those of the parent institution, Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The Division of Associate Degree Nursing is designed to advance the overall purpose of the college by providing educational opportunities to qualified students for a career in nursing. The purpose of the Associate Degree Nursing Program is to provide an educational milieu for residents from the college service area and beyond who seek to become Registered Nurses regardless of socio-economic background. Associate Degree Nursing graduates are prepared to function at entry-level positions as providers of care, managers of care, and members within the discipline of nursing.
