If you are considering a partnership with Copiah-Lincoln Community College Workforce Education the following FAQs may be helpful. For more details, please call 601.643.8707 and ask for one of our helpful Workforce Coordinators.
What is workforce education?
Continuous improvement of the workforce is an integral part of economic development in the College service area. The programs and services offered by WFE are designed to enhance an employee's performance and achieve organizational objectives. The Center is committed to developing a trained workforce for all employers located in the College service area. Our goal is to promote economic growth in south Mississippi.
How is my training funded?
WFE writes workforce development projects through the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB) to pay for expenses associated with training programs and services.
What is the best workforce project for my organization?
There are 3 types of workforce projects.
FLOW-THROUGH (Employees training employees) This type of project allows a company to be compensated for their in-house training. The trainer must be a company employee. The company submits the required paperwork, on a monthly basis, and is reimbursed an hourly rate for each hour of training provided to employees.
ON-LINE CLASSES On-line classes funded but shall not exceed $135 per employee per year or actual cost of the course, whichever is less. On-line classes must be offered by a third-party provider and must include documentation of actual cost.
CLCC PROVIDES INSTRUCTOR (2 methods)
1) Workforce Instructor - We have two diverse instructors on staff that can teach a variety of classes. If a company can utilize a workforce instructor during normal working hours, the instructor is provided free of charge to the company.
2) CLCC Hires External Instructor - CLCC has the option to hire an external instructor to provide the class needed. Through our MCCB guidelines, we are able to solicit funding to cover the instructor's cost. Any costs above the MCCB approved amount will be the responsibility of the company.
Are textbooks and supplies eligible for workforce funding?
Expendable supplies cannot be bought with Workforce/ MCCB funding. Classes requiring textbooks have two options:
1. If company desires to keep textbooks, they may purchase supplies from CLCC.
2. Company may borrow from CLCC Workforce Education Textbook Library.
