Co-Lin recently held an open house for the Assessment Center housed in Oswalt Library on the college’s Wesson Campus. The assessment center will be used primarily for Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) and Adult Education/GED testing. The space will also be used for course assessment, staff training, and library instruction for English classes. The assessment center features 30 touch-screen computers, new furniture, and hi-definition cameras for monitoring proctored exams.
“The assessment center provides the library an outreach opportunity within the college, ultimately fostering a culture of continuous teamwork to promote student success” said Jackie Quinn, Co-Lin’s Director of Libraries and Learning Resources.
The mission of the assessment center is to fulfill the goals and objectives of the college, to provide relevant technology and support, and to enhance a quality-learning environment for students, staff and faculty. A combination of funding sources including the Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (MI-BEST) Grant, MSVCC Innovative Learning and Design (MILD) grant, and institutional resources were utilized to establish the center.
