Co-Lin students, staff, and the public are encouraged to attend. The program will include speeches, music and prayers. In addition, Co-Lin will conduct two drives for items for soldiers overseas and veterans at the G. V. Here is what is needed for veterans at the center: new T-shirts, underwear and socks; gift cards for Wal-Mart and Kmart; writing pads, pens, pencils, envelopes, stamps (forever stamps).

Here is what is needed for soldiers overseas: writing pads (pocket size), pens, pencils, envelopes, baby wipes in small packages, granola bars and fruit packs.

Tax-deductible monetary donations also are accepted and should be contributed to the campus newspaper N-Sights, which will purchase items to be included in the boxes for veterans and soldiers.

Blank Christmas Cards also are needed.

All items and monetary donations should be brought to the Office of Public Information.

The campaign is being co-sponsored by Co-Lin, N-Sights, the Student Government Association, the campus chapter of the Student Veterans Association and the Film Club.

Senior Aides

The Senior Community Service Employment Program provides part-time employment for men and women 55 years of age or older who have limited incomes. SCSEP enrollees are assigned to positions that revitalize and enchance their job skills while supporting local non-profit and governmental agencies. The program is designed to promote the transition of participating enrollees into unsubsidized employment.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College SCSEP consists of programs funded through Senior Services America, Inc. and Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District. Under the Older Americans Act, both programs are funded through grants from the U.S. Department of Labor. Federal monies cover wages, fringe benefits, and supportive services for enrollees. Local sponsor agencies provide most other project costs.

Work sites in non-profit or governmental host agencies are carefully selected by projects to furnish supervision, instruction, and training for assigned SCSEP participants. Host agencies also agree to consider hiring enrollees whenever job opening occur.

The SCSEP staff directs and oversees all projects to assure compliance with federal regulations and SCSEP policies and procedures.
