The humanities consists of those branches of learning regarded as primarily conducive to culture in its fullest sense, and, therefore, central to a broad and liberal education.

The Division of Humanities at Copiah-Lincoln Community College is concerned primarily with the matters of communication, both oral and written, as they apply in the study of languages and their literatures and to the performing arts of speaking and acting.

Welcome Prospective Students
We in the Humanities Division would like to invite you to become a part of us here at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. If you are interested in getting a great college education at an institution near your home, Co-Lin is indeed "the Place to Be."

Our division is the second largest division on campus and we think it is the best. Many of our instructors have been at Co-Lin over 20 years and know their subject and the college very well. All of our instructors have Master's degrees and many have more study in their fields to prepare them for superb classroom teaching.

Our division offers foreign language, foreign travel to Europe, as well as courses in creative writing, journalism, drama, literature, reading and study skills. The Humanities Division has many clubs and organizations to help you outside the classroom. Our literary magazine, Microcosm, gives writers a chance to publish their work as well as receive recognition on local, state and regional levels.

The Drama Club takes plays on the road each year. Sigma Kappa Delta inducts a Co-Lin alumnus into the Literary Hall of Fame each spring at the Humanities Awards Banquet. Our newspaper, Wolf Tales, gives students a chance to develop as reporters of campus news. Our new state-of-the-art foreign language lab is one of only two like it in the entire state. Co-Lin's radio station gives experience in communication skills.

All of this is simply to assure you that if you are interested in any of these areas, Co-Lin's Humanities Division is for you. If you are interested in more information, please write me or call at (601) 643-8371. You may also email us at Deborah.Bush@colin.edu. I will be glad to meet with you to talk further about what we can offer you. We all hope to see or hear from you soon.
