Supplementary Materials: Handouts, video, readings, computer tutorials, audio tapes Course Credit: 3 hours Lab Time: Assigned

Objectives: To stimulate the acquisition of oral proficiency in the Spanish language through vocabulary, grammar, reading, and listening skills: the use of the Natural Approach to learning a second language will be incorporated in the classroom and the laboratory.

Teaching Method: Methods for material presentation in the classroom include lecture, discussion, group participation, Total Physical Response (TPR or learning by doing), and the inclusion of Hispanic culture via artifacts, readings, video, overhead transparencies, and computer programs.

The Language Lab will be available for assigned required lab work with audio cassettes. You will be notified of the time schedule for the lab. A CD-ROM audio-visual computer program is available in the library--ask for Berlitz' "Think and Talk Spanish." This program does not go with this text, but does offer a fun way to focus on functional situations in Spanish. You are not required to use this program, but it is available for those of you who want to become fluent in Spanish.
