Application Agreement

 

 

IMPORTANT!  Applicants must meet the following requirements:

 

 

 

 

 

General Requirements -- MS GED Online Course or On-Site Classes

 

 
  • Must be a Mississippi resident with a current MS address
 
 
  • Must be 17 years of age or older and not required to be enrolled in school under the MS Compulsory School Attendance Law
 
 
  • 17-yr-olds must provide an official withdrawal form from last school attended 
 
 
  • Must not be presently enrolled in any public, private, or home school program
 
 
  • Must have proof of age--MS driver's license, MS ID card from Highway Patrol, or birth certificate 
 
 
  •  Provide school records upon request
 

 

Pre-Test Requirements -- MS GED Online Course

 

 
  • Take  Locator Test and Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
 
 
  • Score at least  8th grade reading level on the TABE
 
 
  • Write a short essay (writing sample)
 
 
  • Sign release-of-information form
 

 

System Requirements -- MS GED Online Course

 

 
  •  Computer with Windows 98, NT, ME, 2000, XP or above 
 
 
  •  Pentium I, AMD K6 or better 
 
 
  •  64 MB RAM
 
 
  •  8X or better CD-ROM drive
 
 
  • Personal email address
 
 
  • 14' color monitor 
 
 
  •  minimum hard disk space - 40 MB 
 
 
  • maximum hard disk space - 700 MB 
 
 
  • Internet access with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
 
   
 
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5 or higher
 
 
  • Ability to open email attachments, download files, and print
 

 

Steps to Enroll in the MS GED Online Course

 

  1. Read and thoroughly understand the above requirements!  
  2. Submit your application online by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.  
  3. Wait to be contacted by a local adult education center for your TABE test schedule.  
  4. Be prepared to spend one-half day on site (in addition to travel time) for theTABE test.  
  5. If you are eligible, the teacher who administered your test will send your test results and other information to the online program  
  6. If you score below  8th grade reading level, you should begin or continue GED classes in a local on-site class.  [You will not be accepted into the GED Online Class until you have reached the required 8th grade reading level on the TABE test!]  
  7. If you are accepted, you will be contacted by your GED Online Class instructor with your first set of assignments.
