While attending Co-Lin and working toward this degree she enrolled in the painting and ceramic classes and she worked with the Art Student’s League. Many around the area have taken advantage of her talent and ability including Georgia Pacific-Monticello. Elayne is currently in the process of designing a series of mural panels for the Co-Lin Drafting and Design Dept. Pre-Columbian Art designs have fascinated and influenced Elayne’s design for this wolf. The circular “sun” is reflective of designs on the temples of the Aztecs. Her choice of mosaic tiles is also an expression of the Aztec and Olmec civilization’s use of mosaics on their sacred surfaces and ritual objects. The choice of material used by Elayne includes colored Venetian glass tiles and an iridescent gold leaf decorates the parts of the form not mosaiced. |
