Phi Theta Kappa

Membership Requirements

A student must have a 3.5 GPA on at least 12 semester hours.  Developmental courses do not count toward the 12 hours or GPA.

Standard Membership

This type membership provides you full membership and privileges, but recognizes that you can participate only on the occasional basis. Selecting this option indicates that you will participate whenever possible.  You will wear the Phi Theta Kappa stole and tassel at graduation.

Enhanced Membership

You plan to be actively involved in our chapter by attending regular meetings and working on projects we sponsor.  By accumulating a certain number of points you will receive the incentives or rewards listed below.

Enhanced Membership Benefits

  1. Enhanced membership certificate.

  2. Enhanced honors cord to wear at graduation in addition to the stole and tassel.

  3. Upon request, letters of recommendation from advisor (s) may be provided for prospective scholarships.

  4. Eligible to receive chapter travel funds for attending regional and international conventions.  (Standard members would be allowed to attend, but would have to pay their own fees.)

  5. Honors cords and certificates presented to Enhanced Members at banquet in May.

To qualify for Enhanced Membership, you are required to earn a minimum of 50 points for each semester that you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa.  For example:  If you are inducted in January of your freshman year, you must have 150 points at graduation, in October of your sophomore year 100 points, and in February of your sophomore year 50 points.
