Entrepreneurship Training - We will compare and contrast the differences between employees and entrepreneurs. We will also compare and contrast the types of business entities and required forms to get a business off the ground. Business Management - We will get an introduction to basic accounting (including Quickbooks) and tax matters affecting small businesses. We will also teach you how to develop a marketing plan to reach your target customer base. Training to develop a business plan - We will use the entire course to help you develop a comprehensive business plan that includes feasibility analysis, pricing data, marketing ideas, funding requirements, cash flow needs and profit and loss projections. Opportunity - We will encourage mentoring opportunities and will provide you with resources to help you find a mentor that can teach you from their experience. Business networks - We will hear from professionals you need such as, bankers, insurance agents, accountants, and attorneys. We will introduce you to some current business owners, and of course, other entrepreneurs in the class. We will also discuss ways to cultivate relationships you already have. Knowledge of funding requirements - We will review funding requirements for entrepreneurial businesses. We will compare available funding, provide resources to find funding sources, and will help polish proposals to be presented to those sources.
The Instructor The instructor for this course is Richard T. Baker, III. Richard has an MBA from Mississippi College, is a CPA and currently owns or has been a partner in numerous businesses including accounting and management consulting firms, real estate acquisition, management, development and brokerage services, independent and franchised retail locations, and internet based companies. |
