- The Discussion Board is asynchronous chat (users do not have to be
available at the same time to communicate.)
- The D/B logs/ organizes conversations.
- Entering the D/B
- Click the Communication button in the navigator area.
- Click Discussion Board.

- Conversations are grouped into forums that contain threads and all
related replies.
- Your instructor must create a forum in order for you to add a new
thread.
- You can add a new forum of conversation within a forum.

- Click the name of the discussion board within which you would like to
start a thread of discussion.
- Click the Add New Thread button.

- Type the subject and message to be posted.
- Click an appropriate option button in the Option area.
- Click the Preview button to view your message before it is posted.
- Click Submit button to post your message
- Click OK.

- Click the name of the discussion board you would like to enter.
- Click the name of the message to which you would like to reply.

- While in a discussion group, you will be reading and replying to
messages from instructors and classmates.
- Your instructor may require a weekly posting as an attendance check.

- Click the Reply Button to post a reply.
- Type a subject that clearly identifies your response idea.
- Type the message to be posted.

- Click the Preview Button to view your message before it is posted.
- Click the Submit Button to post your message.
- Click the OK button to enter another thread.

- Deleting
- The instructor will determine whether users will have the ability to
modify or remove posted threads
- Expanding Threads
- Clicking the expand all box will allow you to view all of the replies.
- Collapsing Threads
- Clicking the collapse box will hide the original threads.

- Click the Back Button on the Windows Explorer toolbar to return to the
orientation and take this section’s quiz.
