Dear Co-Lin  Spring 2008 Distance Learning Student: 
 (Please Read, Print, and Review During the Semester)

Spring 2008 semester "on-line" Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) classes are scheduled to begin on   January 11, 2008.  If you have taken an on-line class before, you should have no trouble getting started.  However, if this is your first course, there are several things you need to know to get started.

  1. The AOL Browser will not accommodate Blackboard 7.2, you will not be able to login. You will need to use either Netscape or the Internet Explorer as your browser. 
  2. Even though you cannot login to your online classes January 11, 2008 you should check your user profile at the following web site immediately after registration to verify your registration. http://sbcjcweb.sbcjc.cc.ms.us/msvccvisitor/studentlogin.asp 
  3. Your class will be taught through the MSVCC Internet site using Blackboard 7.2™ or D2L.  One way to log in is to go to the website http://www.msvcc.org

 

 

You will click on MSVCC BLACKBOARD SERVER.
If you're enrolled in a Blackboard course, enter username & password. If you are enrolled in a D2L course, choose the link to the right.

Username  will be your first initial, last name, and last 4 digits of your SSN & Password will be your first initial, last name, and last 4 digits of your SSN

 

*You will not be able to login until classes start on  January 11, 2008.

 

*You can also log in by going to the Co-Lin Distance Learning web site http://www.colin.edu/distancelearning and clicking on the MSVCC  Blackboard Server link--do not use the Co-Lin Blackboard Server link.  It is reserved for Web-enhanced Co-Lin traditional courses. This will also transport you to the course log in screen.

Log In Problems?

1) Are you accessing the appropriate website for log in? Did you type the web address correctly?
2) Did you remove any punctuation from your last name?
3) Are you using your correct username and password?

Still Having Problems?

If you are still having problems, You are still enrolled in the class, so don't worry. Contact our Admissions office so that the information can then be corrected.
Please make sure to log in at some point on January 11, 2008.  It is your responsibility to contact your instructor by email and to purchase your textbook before class begins.   You can find your instructor’s name, email address, and the ISBN # for your textbook on your student profile.  If you experience any difficulties, you should let Co-Lin know by e-mail at

*IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Your instructor will require that at least one of your tests/exams be proctored at Co-Lin Wesson campus, the Co-Lin Natchez campus or the Co-Lin Simpson County Center.  Proctored exams times are posted on the MSVCC Blackboard web site by your instructor.  A 48 hour  notice is required.  If you need to schedule a proctored exam, go to the Co-Lin Distance Learning page and complete the "To Schedule a Proctored Exam Form." This form will be automatically submitted to the Proctored Testing Center you chose--Wesson, Natchez, or Simpson County.  Proctored Testing Centers do not provide child care, therefore, please do not bring your children to the Testing Centers.

 

You will need to login the 1st week of class and submit the required assignment, or you will be turned in as a No-Show.

The Drop/Add day will be  January 11, 2008.  You will need to submit an email or come by our office to complete a drop/add form.  You will only be able to submit a drop/add twice.

The WITHDRAWAL POLICY is as follows:

You will need to submit the form by the last day to withdraw which is  March 28, 2008. f (No Exceptions)

Your activity and interaction with the instructor is required.  If you register and do not actively complete your on-line assignments, you will risk being cut out.

 

           Successful completion of on-line classes requires self discipline and persistence. Don't get behind in your work.  

All correspondence with students will be through the Co-Lin e-mail address and the college’s web mail.  We discourage the use of Yahoo, AOL, and other e-mail services.  The technicians at Co-Lin cannot support problems with these outside services.  Co-Lin e-mail addresses are required...
