The following statements are tips from current
instructors. Please check the box to note that you have read them.
Plan to spend twice the amount of time
you would allow for a traditional version of
the same class.
Be ready for the volume of e-mail
messages you will receive--especially in the
first two weeks. Be prepared to show a few
"how-to" attachments.
Check your e-mail regularly. Students
get very frustrated when they cannot reach
you for several days.
Decide how you are going to give your
tests before the class starts. If they are
to be proctored on campus, students need
advance notice.
Be very specific when writing
instructions. You cannot just say "Answer
the questions on page 22."
You must add "and send the answers to me in
an e-mail or by way of the Blackboard Drop
Box.
Set specific deadlines for turning in
work and stick to them. Online students can
be especially lax about having work in on
time since they do not have to face you.
Students must have a Co-Lin e-mail
account.

department chairpersons and deans are required.

Laura Lofton, Director of Distance Learning, Wesson Campus. Telephone 601
643-8619.
