Vision Statement The Upward Bound program at Copiah-Lincoln Community College will be recognized by local secondary school educators and counselors as a premier college preparation program for eligible first generation college students and/or students who come from low-income families. The program will help participants develop the academic and social foundations needed for them to experience success in their pursuit of higher education. To provide these foundations, the Upward Bound program and staff will offer quality and dynamic instruction in math, science, composition, literature, and foreign language during the academic year and during the summer. The program will also sponsor a challenging, intensive, six-week residential program during the summer on the Wesson campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College. As a result of the Upward Bound program, the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of higher learning will increase. Mission Statement The Upward Bound program at Copiah-Lincoln Community College is one of over 600 national, federally-funded, pre-college programs designed to provide students with the skills and motivation needed to experience success in postsecondary education. The Upward Bound program serves high school students who come from low-income families and/or potential first generation college students. The program provides instructional, tutorial, and counseling services for eligible students, as well as activities to encourage student improvement in academics, social skills and motivation. |
