Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Participants successfully completing non-academic classes, courses, or programs in Continuing Education or other approved campus programs can be awarded Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs are given to recognize and record an individuals participation in a non-credit educational program or course that meets appropriate criteria. Many times, these programs or courses take the forms of workshops, seminars, conferences, or in-service training. One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours of participation in an approved program under responsible leadership, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Teachers desiring CEU credit in content areas or job/skill related areas for licensure renewals need to be aware that the Mississippi Department of Education does not accept any certificate below .5 CEUs, or 5 contact hours. A permanent record of an individuals CEU credits is maintained on a CEU transcript in the Office of Admissions and Records. For Copiah-Lincoln Community College to award CEU credit(s), approval for the course or program must be obtained from the Dean of Community Services. The Division of Community Services will then issue Registration Forms that must be completed by each participant. Once approved, course administrators must submit a copy of all Registration Forms, a course syllabus, instructor(s) resumes, date(s) of the course to the Division of Community Services. For more information regarding CEUs, please contact Louis Dugas, at (601) 643-8703. |

One purpose of Copiah-Lincoln Community College is to provide educational programs to citizens from the college service area and beyond. Thus, Co-Lin offers a wide variety of non-academic, non-credit Personal Enrichment Classes to enhance the professional growth and personal enrichment of its constituents. These classes offer cultural, recreational, and training opportunities for individuals without regard to college credit or admission requirements. Classes are offered each semester in a variety of formats and locations. Course offerings are based on the needs and desires of the local community and almost any class can be offered provided there is enough interest and a qualified instructor(s) can be found. Classes are also offered for individuals of all ages and skill levels. These courses can take the form of workshops, seminars, classes, or camps. The cost and duration of each class is based on the subject matter and varies for each course offering. However, most courses are short-term and last an average of 5 weeks. In addition, most of these classes are offered during the evenings to maximize access for adult learners. The Division of Community Services is always seeking to meet the needs and desires of constituents. If you would like to obtain more information regarding Personal Enrichment Classes, inquire about class offerings, suggest a possible class offering, or be listed as a possible instructor, please contact Randy Castilaw on the Wesson Campus at (601) 643-8713. |
