The Co-Lin Science Division hosted a DNA Fingerprinting and Paternity Testing Workshop for area high school instructors on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, on the college’s Wesson Campus. Kathy McKone of Enterprise High School and Wendy Cawthorn of Bogue Chitto High School substituted for guest speaker Dr. Mike Yerky of Cornell University. Dr. Yerky was unable to attend due to illness. Both have attended Dr. Yerky's workshops at Cornell.

Workshop participants performed DNA fingerprinting and paternity tests which are widely used in criminal or legal cases to determine identity or parentage. Participants will have access to a loaner kit that includes all the equipment necessary to complete these experiments with their students in the classroom.
