NLCC Advisory Board members hail from coast to coast

About 50 people from across the country make up the Advisory Board of the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration.

“They bring a wealth of expertise and advice to the board,” said Jim Barnett, NLCC Co-chairman, representing Mississippi Department of Archives and History, one of four sponsoring agencies of the conference.

Barnett, Director of Historic Properties for the MDAH, is one of four NLCC co-chairmen. Other co-chairmen are Kathleen Jenkins, Superintendent of the Natchez National Historical Park; Marie Antoon, Executive Director of Mississippi Public Broadcasting; and Carolyn Vance Smith, former Public Relations Director and English instructor at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez.

Smith and Co-Lin founded the Celebration in 1990.

The four co-chairmen form the NLCC Steering Committee and serve as leaders of the Advisory Board, which was established in 2000.

“We are delighted to have the support and energy of the Advisory Board members,” Barnett said. The board provides suggestions for programming, speakers, fund-raising, publicity and promotion, he said.
